Sailing Course

Our weekend sailing course runs over weekends including the Fridays from 1700, so 5 days in total. We will day sail out of Barcelona, using all the surrounding area to give you as much experience as possible.

The course is very practical and hands on, running from 0900 each day and returning to port around 1730, with the second Friday evening used as a night sail experience

RYA Competent Crew

This is for beginners or those with a little sailing experience, the idea of the Competent Crew is to work on all aspects of the sailing and crewing onboard. This will mean plenty of time steering the boat, trimming the sails and sail handling, learning all about the wind and, tacking and gybing plus reefing the sails as the winds increase. Then there is always plenty to do with ropes and parking of the boat and then we will go through lots on the keeping a log, VHF radio and emergency procedures. Then gain experience with anchoring and mooring buoys whilst stopping for lunch at sea in one of the sheltered bay. Barcelona is an excellent location to learn to sail with good winds and lots of sunshine.

RYA Dayskipper

For those who have already completed the RYA Competent Crew or have the equivalent experience, the RYA Dayskipper practical which should be done once you have completed the RYA Dayskipper theory online course(available at a discounted package with us) and then this 5 day course will go through all the aspects of skippering. There is lots and lots to cover in this course, it is very practical and hands on so the learning is fun and enjoyable.

What do I need

You will be day sailing from Barcelona, with the current Coronavirus situation we are reducing food preparation onboard so please bring a packed lunch. We will have can of soft drinks, water, teas and coffees available. You are quite exposed to the sun on the water so bring a hat or plenty of suntan lotion. Sailing clothes are useful to prevent any rope burn but not essential

What is included

We will give a an RYA sailing logbook, this helps keep track of all your sailing miles and also the instructor will sign off each section so you can clearly see what you need to achieve. The yacht is well equipped and extremely nice for training. You will be supplied all the safety equipment and the boat will be fuelled up and ready to go. The is several toilets onboard with plenty of room to stow bags. At the end of the course and successfully completing the syllabus the instructor will issue you your certificate.

Where do we sail

From Marina Port Vell in Barcelona there is plenty of activity going on, cargo ships, cruise ships and tourist boats which is excellent to practice your collision regulations. There is plenty of local ports we can practice our coming into a marina and parking the boat, Badalona and Port Forum plus some good anchoring. A trip to Sitges is an excellent passage and good for practicing your navigation, then just practicing off the Costa Dorada and Costa Brava coastline gives an excellent back drop and open waters to throw the boat around and see what they can do.
