Learn to Sail

Enjoy a weekend sail whilst learning and gain an RYA qualification, as a beginner you can complete the Start yachting course with one weekend, select another weekend to complete the Competent Crew.

Pre experience required

None required, this is a great way to try sailing with expert tuition and a lovely sailing yacht

Course includes

Certificate, lunches onboard and accommodation if required.

Course numbers

We limit our numbers on the courses to a maximum of 5 persons to ensure you have plenty of time on the helm with an experienced RYA instructor to guide you through.This is a very hands on practical course

  • Learn about the safety equipment onboard
  • Preparation for sea
  • Boat handling
  • Hoist the sails and the right amount for the winds
  • Trimming and steering
  • Wind awareness,
  • Tacking and Gybing
  • Anchor and go for a Swim!
  • Mooring up, rope work
  • Lunch onboard

What type of boat?

We use a lovely Beneteau Oceanis 41 Express, great performance and comfort onboard

Do I get a certificate?

Yes, and with a further weekends worth of training you can then gain the RYA Competent Crew course

Will I get to practice lots?

We run with low numbers so you get plenty of time on the helm and crewing with the ropes trimming sails, tacking and Gybing. So plenty of hands on time!

  • We will provide lunch onboard
  • Small bag with extra layers, there is storage on the boat
  • Non slip or trainer style shoe
  • Waterproofs
  • Sun block and hat for those sunny days
